Studies of Hepatoscintigram with Radiogold on Chronic Hepatitis

Abstract
Although hepatic scanning with radiogold is one of the most useful diagnostic method of space occupying lesion, diagnostic value on diffuse hepatopathy has not been fully evaluated.
In this study hepatic scanning with radiogold was carried out in 60 cases of 64 patients of chronic hepatitis confirmed by clinical pictures, chemical liver function studies and biopsy.
The case studied involved the patient who admitted to Department of Internal Medicine, Pusan University Hospital during the period from January 1963 to October 1970.
The following results were obtained.
(1) The author found diffuse hypertrophic pattern on hepatoscintigram in almost cases of the chronic
hepatitis. Spleen visualization was also noticed in 32 cases e.g. 53.3% of total cases.
(2) The spleen visualization was one of the very sensitive test of liver function after B.S.P.
retention (95.3%), colloidal reaction (T. T. T. 82.8% hyperglobulinnemia (81.2%), serum
Takata reaction (60.9%), C. C. F. (56.3%) and hyperbilirubinemia (54.7%).
(3) In hepatoscintigram of the chronic hepatitis, a close relationship between spleen visualization
and chemical liver function abnormalities such as B.S.P. retention, C. C. F. , T. T. T. , serum
Takata reaction, hyperglobulinemia and reverse A/G ratio was noted.
(4) A close correlation between spleen visualization in hepatoscintigram of the chronic hepatitis and
clinical pictures such as palpable liver. vascular spider, icterus, palpable spleen, and peripheral
edema was observed. Spleen visualization on hepatoscintigram was noted in 53.3% of cases as
compared to an incidence of 28. 1% of clinically palpable spleen.
